Alexander Blaszak '23 Recruiting Profile

 As a fast, skilled and smart forward, I am frequently the first man in on the fore-check and when necessary, I'm able to back-check aggressively. I have the ability to quickly reach full speed while maintaining puck possession, and I enjoy making plays as much as I love to score goals.

 My attributes described above helped provide me with an incredible opportunity to play varsity hockey as a freshman, with what proved to be one of the best High School teams in the state of New Jersey, finishing the 2016-17 season with a record of 20-3-3. At first, I was a bit nervous because the coach put me on the first line alongside a junior who had already committed to a D1 program, but I accepted the challenge and quickly learned that hard work is rewarded. I maintained that first line position throughout the season and learned the true meaning of the phrase "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" as it took everyone to give their best effort to bring our team the success we had. More than any season to this point, this past year left me with a strong foundation to help me excel as a hard-working individual and player alike.

 I have many desires and aspirations, but I believe that if I want something, it's up to me to go get it. My parents always tell me that when preparation meets opportunity, good things can happen. Playing college hockey is one such goal that I've been working hard at trying to realize and I hope to one day have that chance. Not only am I pretty good at hockey, but I also play a high level of lacrosse, both while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. As I alluded to earlier, I am and always will be the hardest worker, not only on the ice, but for anything I strive for. I am driven and know I can be successful at anything if given the chance. I'm excited to learn what the future holds for me and I'm certainly looking forward to next season!
