Silas Deckard '23 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing hockey for 12 years. I started to learn to skate when I was 3 years old. Ever since I started playing I knew that I would want to play for as long as I could, even in college and beyond. I understand how big of an opportunity it would be to play college hockey. Not everybody gets the chance to. 

I know that as a student-athlete, being a student comes first and being an athlete come second. I work hard in the classroom an have an 3.980 GPA. I take 3 weighted classes in high school. I volunteer to help the younger hockey teams during their practice. I also referee youth soccer matches to help pay for me to be able to play the sport I love. On the ice, I lead by example and encourage my teammates. I also work hard off the ice to become a better student and athlete. 

I would like to attend college to further my education, but I would also like to play hockey in college. I hope to find the right school where I can do both and I am open to all opportunities I can get.
