Darion Benchich '23 Recruiting Profile

Being named the MVP on Quebec National TV for the Pee Wee Quebec Tournament was an experience that I will never forget.  Little did I know in those two weeks, I grew as an individual which prepared me to become a student-athlete.  Because of that experience, I gained confidence and left home at the age of fifteen to attend Westminster Boarding School.  

I started ice skating at the age of two and found my passion for hockey since my dad works at a local rink and also built an ice rink in our back yard so I could skate.  My family and I have made many sacrifices for me to play at the highest level.  I now play three sports at Westminster and am looking forward to graduating and taking my leadership skills that I am learning at Westminster to be a contributor on a NCAA team.  I feel that I would be a benefit to you and your program as a leader both academically and athletically.  A quote that I love to live by is, "Life is not a sprint, it's a marathon." I have always set goals for myself and have worked hard to make my dreams become reality.  

I am a big animal lover and I love being outdoors especially fishing.  Teaching younger kids hockey back home is a highlight for me, as well as being a hockey camp counselor.
