I am currently playing for the Masuk High School varsity team in Monroe, CT. I’ve been interested in hockey for as long as I can remember. I started skating when my father put me in skates in our backyard rink at 18 months old. I played travel hockey for two years before following my father into a house program that he was coaching in. It gave me an opportunity to get a LOT of coaching and a lot of ice time in a very strong house program just before entering High school. Anybody who knows me would say, "Oh, Ross lives for hockey." It consumes just about every area of my life. When in school when given assignments, I’ve written about hockey. When I have free time, I like to read about everything from equipment to stats to following the careers of professional players that I respect and admire. I am a dedicated team player who’s not afraid to go into the dirty areas to what’s best for the team. I also try and give back to the game as much as I’ve been fortunate enough to get from it. I try to give back to the game by refereeing. I am a Level 2 USA Hockey official.
My desire to learn about the sport has helped me in the classroom as well. As a student-athlete my freshmen year, I made honor roll in three of the four quarters. Because I have a passion for numbers, I am interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. I hope to become a CPA and work on the auditing side of the business. I have other family members and many family friends who are accountants. As far as schools are concerned, I am wide open in terms of where I am willing to go. I adjust easily to new challenges. My long-term goal is to play hockey at the highest level possible while receiving an outstanding education from the college or university I attend. My goal this year is to dedicate myself to my studies with the same vigor I have in pursuing a high school and eventually a college hockey career. I would like to raise my GPA to as much as possible and get as close to a 4.0 unweighted GPA as I can by graduation.
