I love basketball. Athletics has always been a part of my family's life in a big way. I have been playing ball since I was 6 years old. My dad has been one of my coaches in recent years. I look up to my dad because of the way he handles himself on and off the court. He has always reminded us that sports, especially team sports, can be a great way to learn how to deal with much of what life has to offer. I believe him and appreciate him using something I enjoy so much in that way. Basketball has always been a sport which came to me easily. Still, in the past few years, I have realized just how much I want to play and continue to play as long as I can. With that realization, I have also realize how important it is for me to work hard at making my game the best it can be. I have played on the same team, with a core group of friends for the past 3 years. This will be my second year playing on a club team, Utah Club Impact. We are very lucky to be able to travel to both Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas areas this summer to play in a number of tournaments. I love these tournaments because in our club we play up a grade so the opportunities to become better are pretty big. While it can be hard to play against bigger kids, who have great game, I like what it does in improving my game. When I am not at practice or in a game, I love practicing at the park behind my house. I am there a lot. Myself and my brother will even shovel snow off the court so we can shoot in the winter months. I made it my goal to be able to dunk this year so I could do so a year earlier than my older brother (we drive each other); I was able to do that for the first time in early March (please see video). I am so excited about that. I can't wait till my dad will let me do it in a game. I am committed to this game. I go to skills camps as much as I can. I have a lot of energy. I am fun to be around. My work ethic is consistent with my future desires. I am currently focused on making my brain game stronger. My dad has taught me the mental part of basketball is as important as the physical part. I do realize I need to work on my grades in school to be more appealing of a candidate. Please know I am working toward that now and will continue to do so. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, thank you.
