Brody Ley '20 Recruiting Profile

After watching my older brother go on to play college baseball, I knew I wanted to do the same thing but I want to play BASKETBALL!   My brother has proven hard work pays off.   And even though I've never told him, I want him to be as proud of me as I am of him.  

I've been a part of great teams growing up.  I've used my length, my stroke, and my ability to see the court to beat out more athletic players and earn starting roles on every team.   Entering my freshman season at Granville, I was splitting time on the freshman and JV teams.   But I wasn't satisfied only getting a couple of quarters of action in the JV games.  When I asked myself what my brother would do, I knew the answer.   I focused on leaving everything I had on the floor, playing smart, and doing all the little things:  solid defense, blocking out, rebounding, taking care of the basketball and making the extra pass.  He always said that if you do that, the offense will come naturally.  By the end of the season, I was a starter on JV and never came off the court.  I finished the last 3 games with 15, 15, and 16 points, and 4 rebounds a game.   And I'm going to keep working on my game and in the class room.

My travel coaches taught me to respect the game and how to play the game the right way.  My high school coaches have shown me what it takes on and off the court "and when no one’s around".  My parents have taught me right from wrong and how important school is.  And my brother taught me what's possible.  Although I am kind of quiet and laid back, I'm competitive and confident inside and I'll continue to work to get what I want -- to play college basketball for a great school!
