Hello, my name is Adam Empson, and I will begin my senior year in the fall of 2014. Playing basketball in college is a dream of mine, and I have made it my primary athletic goal. For this reason, I practice and play hoops year-round, both competitively and in my free-time. I have now been playing organized basketball for over 11 years, starting at age seven in local children’s leagues, then in the AAU programs (Hooptime & Alaska Flight), and on to my current spot as a high school varsity player. I have also attended many summer basketball camps, including Roy Williams’ Tarheel camp (twice) and Coach Wooten’s camp in Maryland. As a sophomore, I was a starter/6th man for my varsity basketball team. Versatility is probably my biggest strength, as I played many minutes at each position from point guard to power forward. I have great court awareness. I take the leadership role and strive to do my best and give my teammates someone not to just look up to on the court, but off the court as well. Also, I highly value teamwork and team play, which led to me being second in assists sophomore year, behind only our starting point guard. My ability to play inside led to being one of the top rebounders on the team, as well. In my junior year, I led 9 out of the 16 statistical categories that were recorded by the team, and placed second in two other categories. Last year on my high school varsity team, as a junior, I was Co-Captain, selected to All-Conference, was voted to every All-Tournament team during the season, and my teammates also chose me as the best passer and unanimously voted me as team M.V.P.
As for other sports and activities, I am a wide receiver/safety, and Captain for our varsity football team; was elected into our schools Hall of Fame, 1st team All-State Wide Receiver, 2nd team All-Conference Punter, and Honorable Mention for Defensive Back. Also, I enjoy soccer, volleyball, skiing, and baseball.
Academically, I strive to keep my grades up and realize how important a good education is. Because of my willingness to learn and my love of playing basketball, I am very coachable and am excited about what a college coaching staff can teach me, helping me to realize the potential of my abilities. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Experience: 3 years Varsity Starter, 1 year junior varsity as a freshman, 7 years AAU (Hooptime, Alaska Flight, & Euro Lions), 11 years total organized basketball
