Personal Statement

As a little kid, I learned pretty fast that we are a football family. My dad played and coached, I was learning to play and even my mom played ‘powder puff’ football. We would watch games together, talk about players, coaches, and game stats. It was easy to get into the sport when it offered a way for our family to bond and share a mutual interest.

Through playing football I have learned that I am a competitive, strong, and relentless player. Hard work and determination has gotten me where I am today. As a freshman, my teammates selected me to be a freshman team captain and it helped me to I learned how to be a better leader and role model. After freshman season ended, the coaches moved me up to Varsity. Roncalli went to state and won. That was one of the best experiences of my life. Practicing with the Varsity was a humbling experience and made me realize that I have to put in a lot of off season work. With my re-newed commitment to football, I have gone from the 500 pound club in weight lifting to the 800 pound club during winter lifting seasons -- topping out at 830 lbs and the most in the sophomore class.

Going to a private high school has influenced me by making me want to be a better person and to grow spiritually in my faith. Roncalli pushes me to be involved with the school and do community service. My favorite community service so far was pitching baseballs for the League of Miracles (baseball for disabled kids). It’s amazing and a blessing to spend time with these kids and families, helping to make their lives better and more full.

My goal is to find a college football program that is competitive, successful and will further my talent and skills. It’s also important to me to find a program that has a family atmosphere similar to what I have found at Roncalli. I would like to study photography, journalism and communication.
