My name is Ariana Enzerink and I am a senior three-year varsity starter at Davis High School with a 4.3 GPA. My personal goal is to play division I, II, or III field hockey at an academically strong school where I can continue to excel academically and play the sport I love.
I’ve been very active in sports my entire life and really enjoy the competition and camaraderie involved in team sports. I started out with swimming, soccer, and softball. As I got older, I honed my softball skills while playing on traveling teams and the high school JV team. By participating in a wide variety of sports from a very young age, I learned the value of cooperation, leadership, and self-responsibility. Once I started competing in higher-level divisions and tournaments, I realized that a huge personal goal of mine was to play a sport that I was passionate about in college.
I started playing field hockey as a freshman in high school and, after a few months of playing and learning the game, I discovered that I wanted to play field hockey for as long as possible and at the highest level possible. I played defense my freshman (JV) and sophomore (varsity) years and have recently transitioned to a midfielder. It was a huge honor to get picked to play on the DHS varsity team my sophomore year and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of playing with girls who had more experience and learning from them. During my junior year (varsity), I learned more about the strategic aspect of the game, became more comfortable and confident with my stick skills, and was awarded the 2011 Coach's Award. In the last year, I have participated in the 2011 Field Hockey Festival, several club tournaments (UOP, Stanford, Cal, etc.), and the U.S. Field Hockey Futures program.
I take a lot of pride in what I do and always strive to do my best both on the field and in the classroom. I am very competitive and although I am self-motivated, I like having a coach who pushes me to improve and become a better player. I want to go to a school where I can make a positive impact on the team. I am hoping to study biology, biomedical sciences, or sports medicine.
