My name is Andrew Graciano and I am an academic athlete at the Saint Johnsbury Academy, class of 2015. My goal is to play baseball after high school and hopefully beyond college. My junior year was my third year as a varsity starter on our high school baseball team. This was also my third year starting for my American Legion team, OEC Kings. For both my high school and Legion teams I have started at catcher, shortstop, second base, third base, all three outfield positions, and pitched. Due to my ability to consistently hit and successfully play every position I have earned a spot on each starting lineup. Along with baseball I also play on our varsity football team and also played for our junior varsity basketball team my sophomore year.
In order to achieve my dream I attend baseball camps and train year round always improving my game. Additionally, I was chosen to represent the Saint Johnsbury Academy at a sports leadership conference during my sophomore year. I was nominated to attend this conference due to my leadership displayed both on and off the baseball field. These nominations are originally reserved for upperclassmen but my coach and assistant headmaster saw my potential and ability and selected me. In addition to my nomination as a sophomore, I was also selected to mentor incoming freshmen at the conclusion of my junior year. This position has been normally offered to college freshmen but once again, due to my leadership, reliability and character, I was offered the honor of working with the future student body. When not on the field I volunteer and conduct community service through my high school. I also like to assist in coaching younger kids in both baseball and football.
I realize that college baseball requires me to work hard both in the classroom and on the field. With my strong work ethics and persistence to accomplish my goals I know I will be a strong asset to any college baseball program. I am prepared to work hard for any program that will give me an opportunity.
