Personal Statement

Being a female athlete who has grown up playing sports on teams of boys and girls, I have seen that most girls are taught to be nice and say sorry when they make a mistake. I thought that was how you were supposed to act but I have been lucky enough to have some of the best coaches around to help me improve not only as an athlete but also as a person. They've taught me that when you make a bad pass or push a little too hard on defense, you don't say sorry. You help pick that person up and you pick your team up and tell yourself what you can do to be better next time around. You need to give yourself time and space to improve and most importantly, put in the time and effort to improve because that's how you get better. I think I am so lucky to be an athlete because it has helped me learn how to be a part of a team and to develop a perseverance that I can use in my academics, as well. I am the kind of person that pushes themselves to be comfortable being uncomfortable. If that means taking an accelerated class in a language I've never heard spoken before, or competing along side of athletes that I know are older and better than me, to try and learn from them. I hope that I can be recruited into a college where I might not be the most skilled, but where I am challenged by my team, and I hope to be somewhere where I can get the best education possible that will help me pursue a big role in helping the world.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
