I was taught how to work hard the hard way. When I was 12 years old I was cut from the Little League "All-Star" team in my town. Although that does not sound like much, that team is huge in my town. For example, in the last 5 years we have sent 3 teams to the Little League World Series Regional in Bristol Connecticut, 2 of those teams were runner-ups in the New England region. Immediately after I heard the news that I did not make that team I made a promise to myself that I would work so hard that the coaches of any team i tried out for had no choice but take me. So far that plan has worked. In 7th grade I was one of five 7th graders to make the middle school team that is very heavy in 8th graders. And not only did I make that team, but on opening day I was in the starting lineup. As a freshman, I was one of 3 freshman to make the school's JV team. In the playoffs for that season I was starting at first base over 2 juniors and in the semifinal game I hit a 10th inning go ahead home run to send us to the championship, and we went on to win my 3rd state championship in a row. To this day I still work my tail off to get better and make it to the next level.
