"Set your goals high and don't stop until you get there." - Bo Jackson
Baseball has been my life since I have been able to throw a ball. Part of my goals in life have been centered around baseball. I have had several people in my life that have helped me set goals and along the way they have encouraged and pushed me to reach goals. Big influences in my life are my parents. My dad pushes me everyday to be the best I can be on and off of the field and my mom helps me to keep my academic goals front and center. Along with my parents my grandparents have been a big support. My grandparents come to my games and support me and also take me to practices or games when I do not have a ride.
My interest in baseball was first fostered by my dad and my grandpa. Both have given me tips on how to get better. Long before T- Ball ever started, they either had me with a ball in my hand trying to get good throwing formation or I was trying to hit the ball off a tee. We have spent many hours working on fielding the ball cleanly, modifying my batting stance, and fine tuning my pitching formation.
I first started playing on a team when I was 5 years old at the T-ball level. I continued to play in our community summer recreation program before transitioning to travel ball at age 9. I have continued playing at the travel level with in my age group as well as being a fill in player for an older division. Now entering high school I’m looking forward to growing my skills and competing at a new level. My high school goals are to develop into the best player possible, be a strong teammate, and maintain my GPA.
I learned I was really competitive when I was little. Ever since I can remember I hated the idea of losing. Weather it was throwing the ball the farthest, running the fastest, or getting the most hits, I wanted to be the best. I have learned when it comes to getting things done, I will give it my all. I also learned that when you get knocked down you also have to get right back up. I find myself implementing this same mindset with my teammates by encouraging them to do the same.
I am a strong believer of my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. I strive for those around me to see His love through me in how I treat others. I like a good laugh and I enjoy being around people who like to laugh as well. Often times, I find myself trying to get people to see the joy in life. I believe in acts of kindness and I know that I will be held accountable for my actions and reactions to situations. I think that a good leader must overcome situations and also help teammates overcome bad situations.
I am looking forward to finding a college that will allow me to have a great experience which will include a strong education and an opportunity to live the dream of playing baseball at the college level.
