Max Williams '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello!  I am Max Williams, and I just completed my freshman year at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky.  I want to be the best high school student athlete possible, and my ultimate goal is to play college baseball.  I have played baseball my whole life; in fact, I started swinging a bat as soon as I could stand up. My parents tell me that if I couldn't find a bat,  I would swing a stuffed animal!  Some people ask why I bat left handed but throw right handed . I don't know the answer to that question - that's just what felt comfortable when I was little. I grew up watching my older brothers play baseball and learned a lot about the game from them.  I think that growing up at the baseball field is one big reason that I have a high baseball IQ.   I love being in clutch situations.  I know where  the ball should go before every pitch, and I love the challenge. 

I can play anywhere on the field.   During the Spring of 2017, I played on both the freshmen and JV teams and even started one varsity game (going 2-2, with a double). I played every position, except catcher and first base. I batted lead off with an OBP of around .500. We didn't keep official statistics, but I was only caught stealing once in over 30 attempts.  I batted lead-off for my 2017 travel team and led the team with a .392 average with only 4 strikeouts in over 130 plate appearances.

For now, doing well in high school--academically and athletically--is my top priority, but I want to prepare for my future, too. I would be a great addition to any college team.  I am a hard worker, I have a good attitude, I put my team first, and I am a good player.
