My name is Bryan Bund, and I am a junior at Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, Illinois. I have been playing baseball since I was four years old. Since my freshman year of high school I have set my sights on playing baseball at the collegiate level. Although I started out playing first base, I have transitioned myself into a pitcher over the last few years, as I believe there is more of an opportunity for lefties in the pitching position. As I have concentrated on pitching at showcases, college coaches have told me that if my velocity is high enough, and if I continue to locate my pitches, I can play in college.
I am a very hard-worker and very dedicated to doing my best on and off the field. I realize I need to improve my velocity, and I continue to work very hard in the off-season, as well as during the regular season. During this past off-season, I had an opportunity to begin a velocity program to strengthen my shoulder and improve my speed. The results have been positive, as my velocity is up to 85 mph doing the run and gun.
At my high school, I have been a member of the student council for the past two years and will continue to be part of student government again next year. As part of student council, I have been helping out with fundraisers, school dances and charitable work. Also, this past year and next year, I am on Link Crew, where the juniors and seniors help middle-school kids transition to our high school. We act as mentors to the incoming freshman class.
I look forward to playing college baseball and contributing on the mound.
