I am looking forward to being a student athlete at a school that has strong academics and a nationally competitive wrestling program. Last year, I started my freshman season on the JV team and my record was 7 & 1 with 4 pins. My only loss was in the County JV (North Suburban tournament) and I lost in the last 2 seconds of the finals match. After several weeks on JV, I got pulled up to the varsity team and competed as a freshman at 170 lbs (while only weighing 160 lbs). My record on varsity was 12 & 10 with 5 pins. I placed 5th in the Richmond Burton tournament and 1st in the Chicago Hope tournament.
I wrestle year-around and train at Poeta Training Center. This summer I qualified for the Illinois National Freestyle team and went to Fargo for the national championships. While I didn't achieve my goal of making All-American, it was a great experience. I got to train with the best guys in the state and made some good friends. I plan to return next year and get it done.
I am training and lifting hard. My HS coach wants me to get to 195 lbs by my Junior year. I am up to 180 lbs right now and will likely wrestle my sophomore season at 182 lbs.
