Personal Statement

My name is Matt Blaney, I am a 5'10" 167 lb RHP.  I have a 3.57 GPA and a 29 ACT.  (32 STEM)

Right now I throw Max FB 85, and sit 83-84.  Curve is 69-70, and Change is 74-75.

On May 10th 2016 I had Tommy John surgery.  I will rehab for 9-11 months and return better than ever.

It is my dream to play Baseball in college, and I will.  I will be a contributing factor in the teams success, I promise you that.

UPDATE:  03/24/2017  I made my return.  Appeared in relief.  1.1 innings, 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 2K, 2BB.  A little rusty, but got the job done.  More to come....

Please note that the video attached is taken in January 2016, just a few months before I had my Tommy John surgery.  My elbow was acting up, and my velocity had dropped a few MPH already.

02/15/2017

UPDATE:  I will be released by Dr. Mark Cohen on February 27th, 2017.  My strength is nearly 100%.  My velocity is gaining little by little, and will be back to 85+ soon.  I look forward to the High School season, and will have more videos and updates soon!  Thank you to all the coaches that have contacted me and have been recruiting me.  This is just the beginning!

UPDATE:  Recovery is going great.  I start a throwing program on 09/26/2016.  I have been working hard on core and cardio until I can begin full workouts.   Looking forward to being 100% by March!!!!

11/30/2016  UPDATE:

I began throwing 90' every other day this week.  Everything feels great!  I am starting a complete physical conditioning program on 12/05.  I start throwing off a mound at 50% soon.  I can't wait.    Next update will be after the new year.

I look forward to talking with a lot more coaches once I'm throwing full throttle.  Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!
