All of my life, I have strived to become a better student athlete. I have been playing baseball since I have been able to walk. My family lives, breathes, and eats baseball and softball. On the field, there aren't any divisions or labels put on me. During a game, there is no judgement and everyone is family and we are all working towards one goal, to succeed. Baseball keeps me on the right track in school and outside of it. Without baseball, I would not have an outlet and I most likely would not strive to be a better student. This sport disciplines me and shows me what and what not to do. Without my previous and current coaches and teammates, I would not be the person I am today.
I live in an area that is not fond of my sport. The school district does not give money to us for things that are very necessary, therefore our teams do not excel. This form of disregard, makes me want to become a better player to prove them, and all of the people that said it was not possible, wrong. I have always dreamed to be in the collegiate level and every time I practice I think of this goal. Also, baseball is my ticket out of the conditions that I was raised in. Not only is baseball a sport, but it is my passion. I was always told not to play for the name on the back of the jersey, but the name on the front of it. But, I will always remember what the name on the back taught me and what it brought me through.
