Personal Statement

My name is Shane Stafford and I am a catcher and outfielder from Redwood City, California. Baseball has been my passion since I was 5 years old, and I know that it will be for the rest of my life. As a freshman on JV, I was selected as the MVP and was one of two team captains. Sophomore year, I was the starting catcher for Varsity and played every inning of both preseason and regular season where I bat an average of .400. During sophomore year, I was awarded 2nd team all league and I won sophomore athlete of the year. While I am very proud of these achievements, there is always room to improve my game and I am constantly practicing and improving on all aspects of the game. In addition to high school baseball, I spend countless hours every weekend playing in USSSA tournaments where I am a captain and a leader of the team. I am currently enrolled in the leadership class where I have been the Class Vice President for the past two years. This responsibility throws many obstacles at me, but with poise, I handle any issues and thrive. In addition to being a leader at school, I offer my time and volunteer with many organizations like Art in Action. I am a very outgoing person and I love to lead a team by both setting a good example and helping them in everyway I can; however, I am an extremely good listener to whatever coaching I receive, whether it is from a fellow player or a coach. My goal is to play baseball in a college that I love and where I can get a degree in fields such as engineering and/or communications. While baseball is my true love, my number one priority is my academics because they determine the career I will follow. I would like to play as a freshman and make an impact on whatever team I am a part of. I am optimistic that my love and dedication for the sport exemplifies how much I would like to play in college.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
