I believe I would be a good addition to any college institution and wrestling program because academic excellence, hard work, and sound character traits are key components to success . Academics are crucial to me because it will allow me to pursue my goals of becoming a military historian and a Marine Corps AH-1W/Z Cobra pilot. This will be no easy task and will require dedication and concentration to achieve such a goal. To achieve this goal I must invest 100% of myself academically so I can pursue colleges with academic programs that fit the requirements for me to achieve my goals. Additionally, the pursuit of academic excellence will make me a favorable candidate for more colleges providing me more opportunities for a better education and access to more wrestling programs.
I am a firm believer in success through hard work, pushing ones self to extreme limits in pursuit of achieving your goals is a trait that has been instilled in me by my parents. I believe that through hard work and dedication any goal can be achieved and accomplished if the heart and mind are willing to make every sacrifice and work hard for it. As my father has instilled in me, any job worth doing is worth doing right.
It is my belief that I possess the character every college would like in their student athletes. I believe and have been taught that a person and/or leader must be willing to stand up for what is right 100% the time every time, all the time. Even though the right course isn’t always the popular course to take, stay true to one’s character and ethics and follow the right course of action. Character also means being a pillar of strength in the face of extreme adversity, leading by example and listening when someone has something to say. Growing up in a family of veteran’s, I have learned that character isn’t something taught in books. Character instilled in people by lessons taught by family members, coaches, and mentors, like my parents, uncles and my coach. My father gave me an excerpt of a speech Theodore Roosevelt gave , the excerpt is called"“Man in the Arena”, I believe this captures the true meaning of what it is to have character.
