My high school did not have a junior high feeder wrestling program, and I hadn't wrestled until my freshman year. Once I started wrestling, I didn't want to do other sports. I worked hard to learn the moves and get stronger, wrestling year round through Saber Wrestling Club and grappling. By the middle of my junior year I was winning more matches, but we had 12 experienced seniors on the team, so I did not get to wrestle varsity very often. The summer before my senior year, I really hit the weights and practice hard, gaining 20 pounds of muscle. My record senior year was 29 wins, 7 losses, 27 pins, and I took 2nd at Sectionals.
My junior year and summer, I also coached the club for K-8, and I really liked that. It is great to connect with the kids, teach them moves, and watch them perform them accurately and successfully. My short term goal is to wrestle at the college level. My long term goal is to become a forest ranger, law enforcement officer, athletic trainer or something similar.
