Hello. My name is Rachael Ramos and I am a Senior at Rowland High School in Rowland Heights, CA. I have been swimming competitively since I was 7 years old. I fell in love with water polo the summer before my freshman year when my swim coach suggested I play water polo in high school. I have been a varsity starter since my Freshman year. I am the sprinter and play right wing and driver. I am fast, quick with the ball, and a team player. I am very passionate about water polo. I love the excitement of the game: the competitiveness, aggressiveness, and being part of a team. Since Freshman year, I have played both varsity water polo and varsity swimming. I was awarded Varsity Freshman of the Year for water polo and swimming. In my Sophomore year, I was awarded Most Valuable Player in both water polo and swimming. I was named most Dedicated Player, and 2nd Team All League in water polo and swimming for the 100 Fly and 500 Free. Competitive swimming has been a huge part of my life. I have competed in C.I.F. my Sophomore and this year in the 100 Fly. Water polo is the sport I want to play in college.
My dream is to one day become a registered dietician and assist athletes with their nutrition. I would also like to coach water polo and swimming at the college level . I am currently an assistant coach of a city recreational team and instructing swim lessons. I aspire to achieve an athletic or/and academic scholarship to a university where I can attain a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Nutritional / Health Sciences.
Through my years in swimming and water polo I have learned that success is achieved through self-discipline, commitment, and a good work ethic. I have made many sacrifices in order to accomplish my goals. Above all, I believe in myself and I know that hard work and dedication to academics and my sports will bring about accomplishment in my goals. I will continue to work hard to be a great student athlete as I move on to college.
