Krystal Burney '17 Recruiting Profile

 
Who am I?
My name is Krystal Skyy Burney.  I am a junior at Clayton Valley Charter High School. I am enrolled in the Medical Careers Academy. I am a self-motivated young adult that strives to learn and improve. I normally take leadership roles in most of activities I am involved in. I am working to become an Emergency Nurse; I believe I would do well in emergency situations, due to the fact I have been a leader in many situations. I tend to relax and focus more during serious situations.
High School Water Polo
I have been the starting goalie for the Clayton Valley Charter High School water polo team for the past three years. My freshman year was my first year of water polo ever and I became the starting JV goalie. That year I received the most improved award. My last season of water polo at Clayton Valley Charter High School I was the starting goalie for JV and attended and played in multiple Varsity games.  My most proud moment was when we won DVAL this season. I received the captain’s award, MVP, NCS participation, and Honor roll GPA. I was very satisfied with my season. I am now the starting Varsity goalie and Team Captain.
Club Water Polo
I played three seasons for Academy Water Polo Club. I plan on continuing my club experience this winter at Diablo Water Polo Club. My goals for the club season are to work on coming out of the cage to steal the ball, work on improving my vocalization, and to work on identifying lob shots.
Camps
I Attended the UC Berkeley water polo camp on December 13th and 14th and July 8th. I learned many new techniques. I enjoyed learning more about blocking different types of shots and being a leader for the team. I am improving on implementing what I have learned into game scenarios. I hope to go to additional camps to learn more strategies.
Other Sport Experience
I have been competitively swimming for the past 7 years. My Favorite events are the 50 (0:27.37), 100(1:03.20), 200 and 500 yard free style.
