Jessica Pickering '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Jessica Holly Pickering. I was born in Auckland, New Zealand on June 6th, 1995. I moved to the United States seven months later, and settled in Issaquah, Washington. Volleyball became my priority during my freshman year of high school. I started playing in the sixth grade, and began club in eighth grade. My freshman year I was on JV, continued to play club volleyball, and made Varsity as a sophomore. I have played for Island Thunder Volleyball Club (ITVC) from U15-U17, and have participated in local Power League, the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, the Northern Lights Qualifier, the Far Western Qualifier, the Willamette Classic, the Oregon MLK Classic, the Emerald City Classic and most recently the Las Vegas Classic. On March 31^st, 2012, I suffered from a serious concussion that ended my 17s club season. I was finally cleared to play again three-and-a-half months later, in the middle of July. During my time off, I went through a reflective period where I questioned my volleyball future, and was unsure if playing at the intercollegiate level was what I really wanted to do. However, once I was back in the gym for the start of my senior year school season, I realized that my volleyball days are not yet over.
