Hailey Riley '21 Recruiting Profile

     I remember going to my sister's tournament when I was in third grade. It was probably the first game I had actually watched.  I studied the things my sister's team did and then I took a ball, passed and set it to myself, trying to be like them, not knowing I would fall in love with the sport. 

    I have learned that everyone is different in the way they learn and respond so you cannot talk to people all the same way.  I also learned that you can not do everything by yourself, you need a team to make you a better player because they will push you.  I feel these two things have helped to form me into a leader.  One of my goals for high school is to make varsity all four years and graduate with honors.

    A small obstacle I have had to overcome is adjusting from club volleyball to school volleyball because school (middle school) has not been as competitive.

    A unique characteristic I have is that I like to make people laugh and to make them happy.  Other characteristic traits that have been used to describe me are:  kind, generous, patient, and able to learn new skills quickly.

    Several details of my life that have shaped who I am are:

        -having a bi-racial family

        -being the middle child

        -having an older sister who I can look up to

        - having a younger brother who I can protect

        -having a great group of friends for support

        -having a good connection with my family
