Hi, my name is Abby and I have been playing volleyball since I was 12. When I first started playing the sport I was unsure whether or not I would like it, but once I started playing I immediately fell in love. I thrive on high-level competition, and I get "in the zone" and push myself to my full potential. In addition to my competitiveness, I have strong court awareness and am successfully able to anticipate where the setter is going to set the ball on the other side of the net. Volleyball has challenged my mental strength by teaching me to stay focused and do whatever it takes to win every point. I am a natural leader, and have the skills to encourage my teammates and eradicate negative energy on the court. My dream is to play volleyball in college, and I am willing to work hard and push myself so that I can earn a scholarship.
I would like to major in Psychology, with a specialty in Forensics. I come from a family of academics and they support me in working hard to achieve my full academic potential. When I am not playing volleyball or studying, I enjoy playing the piano, babysitting, and spending time with friends and family. I have also recently started coaching and mentoring younger girls who are just starting out with volleyball, and I regularly volunteer at Relay for Life (for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and serve the homeless at shelters. I look forward to exploring opportunities to fulfill my dream of playing the sport I love in college.
