Hello,
My name is Kerrigan Grace McVicker, and I love volleyball and have been playing the game since I was 10 years old. I am blessed to be from a tall family and stand almost six (6) feet tall and 165 pounds, strong and invincible!
I am a great candidate for your college team because I am hard working, mentally tough, and a dominant player on the volleyball court. I also bring a quality, that I am fortunate to have, and that is my versatility as a player. I can play any position in front row from my past experience. Originally, I started as a middle blocker, but then was moved to the outside for my high school and club teams. Currently, I am concentrating on the outside hitter position, as I “started” in that role as a junior throughout my 2014 high school varsity season. As an outside hitter, I led my team to the state final four.
I am also known for my extremely positive personality and can always be counted on for bringing great intensity and enthusiasm to the court while playing the game I love. No matter what the situation may be, I strive to do my personal best to bring out the strength and stamina in my teammates that I truly care for with charisma.
Although volleyball is important, I realize that my scholastic record requires focus to attain high marks. I am very determined and dedicated in the classroom as well as on the court. Growing up in an ambitious household, it is expected that I achieve strong academic success. I hold myself to being a student first, and an athlete second, balancing both successfully. I have been on the honor roll throughout my high school years, achieving a 3.7 cumulative GPA thus far. With many President’s and Dean’s List’s awards, I plan to be inducted into the National Honors Society in the spring of my junior year.
Extracurricular activities have enabled me to give back to my school and share in experiences with other faculty and students. I am committed to several clubs and programs at St. Ursula Academy. I serve as an Ambassador, and member of the Campus Ministry Program. Both roles emphasize activities to welcome recruits and new students. I also participate in Labre and the Teen Institute Club. Labre involves feeding the needy once a week through the spirit of St. Joseph Labre. Teen Institute enables me to teach middle schoolers about life in high school, to promote positive transitioning. During my summers, I work at City Q Barbeque, where I serve the counter and deliver exceptional customer service in a fast paced restaurant, while managing the demands of club volleyball and training for GJNC.
My college dreams center on “playing” for a reputable and competitive volleyball program, where I can evolve as a player to achieve my highest potential. My goal for collegian volleyball is to play and be a top contributor and leader on the floor. I would love to be able to work with inspiring and motivational coaches that can help me reach career heights, school records, and experience much success at the college-level.
Academics are very important to me as well, and I would like to attend a school that prioritizes the availability of tutors for student athletes. I am serious about my studies, and I respectfully request teaching assistance, due to the extensive time out of the classroom that a game schedule demands. My college plans include majoring in business or communications while playing great volleyball. I also have an interest in staying in the volleyball field, in some form, after graduation.
Thank you for your time. This is a big decision, and I want to make the right one. You will not regret Kerrigan McVicker as a choice for your team. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and further discuss whether I can deliver for your volleyball program.
Sincerely,
Kerrigan Grace McVicker
