My name is Grace Hammond, I am in the ninth grade at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC. I am a S/OH/RS for the class of 2021. I am a straight A student taking honors classes and know that keeping my grades at a high level will help my future aspirations to play volleyball in college.
I have been a competitive year-round swimmer (since I was 8 years old) and have finished in the top-10 in some events at the age group state championships. In the last year, I have started to focus more on volleyball than swimming. I started playing volleyball at the YMCA in the fourth grade, and started playing club at Piedmont Volleyball Club when I was 12 years old. I made the varsity volleyball team at Northwest Guilford High School this year as a freshman. I played RS at the start of the season and in the 4th match of the year began setting. I started the last 7 matches of the season. Our team lost in the third round of the North Carolina 4A state playoffs to the eventual state runner-up. I was named Metro 4A Honorable Mention All-Conference this season. I am playing on the Piedmont Volleyball Club 15 Elite national team this year. During club tryouts, I was measured at 6’1.5”. I am a twin (I am RH and my twin sister Amelia is LH) and am excited to play with Amelia at Piedmont this year, she is a RS. I am very driven and am committed to working hard to become the best player I can be. I am looking for a college that has a strong reputation for academics and volleyball.
