Alexa Petraitis '18 Recruiting Profile

Since I was a child i have always had a passion for sports whether it be playing outside with my two brothers, playing basketball indoors on my AAU team, or running around on the lacrosse field since kindergarten.  I started playing volleyball in 4th grade when i attended weekly volleyball clinics at my local middle school and ever since then my volleyball career took off.  In 8th grade I started playing club volleyball for the Sportime Volleyball Club based in Bethpage, New York where i was the starting outside hitter. In 9th grade I started as the Middle blocker and have played that position ever since. This past year we claimed the title of regional champions of the 15u Club Geva division.  Also this past year I played for the top team on the 15u GEVA High Performance volleyball team as the starting middle. We captured the bronze metal in the top bracket at the USA High Performance World Championship tournament. This year i will be competing in the Geva Open Division on the Sportime 15u black team as a Middle Hitter. My school volleyball career started on the Kings Park middle school team where we went undefeated for both my 7th and 8th grade seasons. On the Kings Park Junior Varsity team i played as an outside for the first quarter of the season and switched to the Starting Middle from there on. This past school volleyball season i played as a Middle Blocker for the Varisty team.  We finished the season as 3rd in NYS.  Along with playing volleyball I also played basketball in elementary and middle school and played on my school lacrosse team and various club lacrosse teams since kindergarten. However volleyball was always the sport that I loved the most and the sport that I have a driving passion for with the motivation of playing on a high level college team.
