Victoria Capogna '16 Recruiting Profile

     My name is Victoria Capogna and since the age of two, I have been participating in many sports. These include basketball, lacrosse, dance, gymnastics, competitive figure skating, tennis, beach volleyball, and was captain of my towns soccer club team. All of these sports have contributed greatly to my athleticism and drive to the the best student athlete I can be. I believe that participating in all these sports made me the volleyball player that I am today. 
     I Have been very fortunate to be able to call myself a volleyball player since the age of ten. From the moment I started I knew that volleyball was to become my main focus. Volleyball has helped me grow not just as an athlete but as a person too. This sport has taught me the importance of composure under times of high pressure, confidence, and teamwork. I am so grateful for all of the countless opportunities I have had through all of the people who have supported me on and off the court.
     I have been described as a very coachable, hard working, and smart player by many coaches and trainers that I have had the privilege of working with throughout the years. By eighth grade I was moved up to the High School junior varsity team. This was my first experience at the High School level as a starter. By freshman year I enrolled in St. Anthony's High School for its academic and athletic excellence. In ninth grade I played for the Junior Varsity team as a starter and won the league championships. In sophomore year I was moved up and played on Varsity. That year we attended a tournament in Arizona, won the league and played in states against other top teams. Also as a sophomore I was a starter on my club team and we made it to Junior Nationals in Minnesota. As a junior I was a starter on my school team, won the league championships and moved on to become state finalists. I was also voted by all of the coaches in the league as one of the players selected for the All League Award. This was a great honor for me being a junior to be grouped with all of the other outstanding players. I was also a starter on my club team, we made it to Junior Nationals in New Orleans winning our Flight.  I am looking forward to a competitive senior year and club season. I am proud to say that I am captain and starter. I am also proud to say that I have been selected by Newsday as top 25 Volleyball girls to watch on Long Island. Ultimately, I want to be in a college community that will give me a challenging and well rounded athletic and academic experience. My main goal is to reach my best potential academically and athletically with volleyball.
