Karlie Meeks '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Karlie Meeks. I am 5'11" and weigh 150lbs. My greatest athletic attributes are my speed and jumping ability. I am a multi-sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball, and running track. My favorite sport, and one of which I have chosen to devote my time to, is volleyball.
I had a significant injury my freshman year which put me on the sidelines for several months. I recovered both physically and mentally although it was difficult. I believe that my injury taught me a great deal about dedication, perseverance, and mental toughness. I had to fight hard to recover and earn my place back on the team. I had to prove to myself, my coach, and my teammates that I was 100% back and ready.
I am dedicated both on and off the court. I have worked to improve my volleyball skills through camps, individual training and club teams, but I have also maintained a 4.0 GPA at the same time. I am very coachable and strive to do my best in all things. I am able to manage my time efficiently to meet my obligations as well as enjoying what I do. I have always had a love for animals and their well being which is why I plan to become a Veterinarian. Given an opportunity I believe that I can have the best of both worlds by playing volleyball and pursuing my degree in Animal Science. I am looking for a college with a high academic standard and one that values team and family. I prefer the Midwest, South, and Central United States in a suburban or rural setting.
