One turning point in my life in regards to volleyball, was when a teammate of mine broke their arm and I was the one who was asked to fill their position for the rest of the season. That taught me that volleyball is a team sport and that I am willing to do whatever is necessary for the team to succeed. Going from a starting all-round setter to a middle blocker was a big and unexpected change. Although the positions are different they still have the same responsibility, to help out the team in whatever way is possible. I spent extra time after practice learning the position, practicing the footwork, and studying all of the attacks. This taught me that a "team first" mentality makes a successful teammate.
