My name is Laila Wallace and I am a Sophomore at Munster H.S. I am a Starter on the Varsity team. I am a 6’1 Middle Hitter who can also play Right Side or Outside. My approach jump is 10’2.
Recently, I was named one of the Players to watch in 2017 (NWI Times, Scouting the Region's volleyball teams). Also, I led my team in kills during my 1st Varsity Match against #1 team in Conference.
This Club Season I will be playing for Michio Chicago Volleyball Academy and I'm super excited about the training and competition I'll receive. I was introduced to volleyball a couple of years ago by a middle school friend and fell in love with the sport! Playing volleyball has taught me many lessons, from perseverance, to accountability, teamwork, overcoming obstacles, “we” not “me” attitude, humility and grace. I have a strong work ethic and am committed to improving my game. In addition to twice a week practices, I have weekly private training and conditioning.
Education is important in my family. Both of my parents have advanced degrees and have instilled in me the importance of education and the opportunities it brings. I’m an honor roll student and was recently nominated to be inducted in Future Science and Technology Program. While I am not certain about a major, I enjoy English and writing. Therefore, I am exploring journalism, specifically broadcast journalism as a college major. I’m interested in colleges that have both strong academic programs and a high level volleyball program.
