When I started playing volleyball in 7th grade, I quickly realized that I had a passion for the game and all it has to offer. I have been playing in Jr. High/High School and at Sky High Volleyball Club for 5 years. I am a versatile player, starting as a setter, middle blocker and transitioned to an outside hitter/defensive specialist.
For the first three years at Sky High, I was on a lower level elite/Junior Olympic team, where I continued to develop as a leader and all around player, qualifying in the 2013 season for USAVB Nationals in Dallas. My passion and willpower to improve gave me the confidence and drive to excel. This past year, I was on the second ranked 16's team, playing all around in the outside hitter and defensive positions. My team placed 2nd at Big South Atlanta, qualifying for USAVB Nationals in Minneapolis.
To play at the collegiate level, I continue to push myself to get better and give 110% every play, every match. Many people say that I was underestimated and my potential is finally being recognized. Although, I have always considered myself to be a well-rounded player; and as I know I am not the best player on the court, it gives my the motivation to improve. Knowing there is always room to enhance the physical and mental parts of the game, I will never stop pushing myself past hurdles.
In the off-season, I play sand volleyball to develop speed, improve court awareness and build endurance. When I was 14/15, my beach partner and I placed 1st in two Asics Chicago tournaments and qualified twice leading to participation in the AAU Junior Beach Olympics in Hermosa Beach California in 2013. In 2014, my beach partner and I placed 1st in the USAVB National 16s Open Division in Milwaukee. To further challenge myself, I played in the EVP Rosemont 18's tournament, placing 2nd. Outside of volleyball, I have been figure skating since I was 4 years old, participated on a competitive national team for theater on ice. The dual sport experience, gives me a greater notion, feel of balance and flow which allows me to develop my vertical leap in a different sense.
In school, I am involved in the student government and act as the Secretary of the Spanish National Honors Society. I work very hard to maintain a 4.41 GPA on a 4 point scale and anticipate to advance, based on enrollment in AP and honors classes. I am very busy, but enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I believe that my diverse palate gives me an advantage to excel in other areas of volleyball that others may not have or struggle with.
I hope to find the right university for me that will provide opportunities to play indoor volleyball, sand volleyball or both. I consider myself to be a good player because I am passionate for this sport and I push myself every time on the court to get better. Because for me I have seen how the improvement of my skill level benefits and I know that I will continue to grow. I am a committed, self driven individual, which is evident in all aspects of my life, including plays on the court, academics, family and service activities. I am confident that the skills and attitude that I bring to the court will be a huge asset to any team and look forward to finding a school that matches my academic and sports aptitude.
