Hi, my name is Mary Frances (Mary Fran) and I am a 5'6" setter. I have been playing volleyball competitively since 8th grade, attended summer camps, and have taken private lessons. My freshman year, I played on both the freshmen and JV team. Since I was the only freshmen to do so, I was voted MVP. Also, I attended my high school summer camp and loyola university's summer camp. My sophomore year, I was the captain of the JV team and ran the offense (5-1) and again attended my high school summer camp and loyola's summer camp as well as there setters camp. My junior year, I was the only junior to make the Varsity Team. We finished the season undefeated in our division (1A) but lost in the final round of the Regional Championship. Also, my old coach retired at the end of the season. In the winter, I took private volleyball lessons. This past summer, I attended my high school summer camp and went to two Nike Volleyball Camps (Wisconsin & Boston). My Senior Year, I was Co-Captain of our Varsity Team. My new coach had me running a 5-1 college style offense. It was a challenging yet rewarding year since five seniors graduated last year and we were rebuilding but I am happy to say we won the blue conference (1A) and came in 4th in the white conference championship after being moved up. We lost in the regional playoffs, however I made the Blue All-Conference Team as well as being on the all-academic team. Currently, I am playing Club volleyball for Northshore Assault based out of Evanston, Illinois. www.northshoreassualtvbc.com.
As for where I would like to go for college, I would like to attend somewhere where I can be an asset on a team as well as have a good college education experience. I would like to major in Early Childhood Development or Elementary Education because I love kids and want to teach. I would like to attend a medium sized college in the Northeast. The Northeast because my mom is moving from Illinois to Maine after I graduate and because I feel like I missed out on some of the typical high school activities attending a very small school and lastly, because I like the one-on-one learning experience with my teachers that I might not get in a really large school. However, I am open to other places and college size if it's the right fit for me and my family.
Throughout my high school career I hope my academic and athletic accomplishments have shown my drive, passion, dedication, and hard work. I would love to be a college student-athlete. I also hope after learning a little about me that I am the right student-athlete to join your team. Thank you for your time and taking a look at me.
