Since the beginning of my high school career, there are several developments I have made as a player and teammate.
Beginning my high school career as the starting Libero on JV, my team and I maintained a winning season. When I was pulled up on Varsity that same year, my skills where put to the test as I played along side some young D1 commits and tough defensive players. Sophomore year, I returned as a Varsity player often starting in the middle back position playing defense against some of the top recruits in the nation. If there was one take away from that season it would be to always play in the moment. That year, my team and I focused mainly on every play and every moment and not dwelling on past games or points. I also learned what it means to be a selfless teammate. To put my anger or frustration aside and focus on supporting my teammates by being the most focused and dedicated player possible was one way that selflessness played a role in our overall success that year.
Since then, I have taken that lesson of selflessness with me to my new high school program. As starting captain and Libero on the Varsity team this year, my senior year, a main focus on our team is working together to be better and recognizing that individual success is nothing without eachother.
By working hard, putting in extra hours of training, and being mindful of the energy we put out on and off the court everyday is one way I hope to lead my team to a Sectional title this year. These lessons are also ones I hope to bring with me at the collegiate level next year.
