I am an active, well-rounded athlete. I enjoy the court, field, and even the occasional beach day. I've been playing volleyball since I was in the second grade. I enjoy the sport very much and it's hard to live without it. I've always wanted to play at the college level. Playing club ball has taken me to the mainland for many tournaments. I have participated in the Junior Olympics (2 years) as well as the SCVA Las Vegas Volleyball Tournament (the past 4 years). Here in Hawaii we have the Haili Volleyball Tournament. I have played in this tournament for 8 years; both in adults and juniors division. I played on a team with 18 year olds as a starter in my eighth grade year.
I have been referred to as a very positive player. I always try to keep a positive attitude on and off the court. I am a very respectful player, person, and friend. Some coaches have said I am very coach-able and easy to work with. I am always open-minded to what a coach has to say and what they think is best for the team. My teammates have referred to me as a very encouraging and uplifting teammate. I keep a high energy level at practices and during games. I am reliable. Even as a freshman starter on Varsity, I am able to lead with positive high energy.
I plan to major in Education. I take pride in being able to help others, and heal them. I am open to any level of college.
My mother has been raising me on her own since the summer of my sixth grade year when my father decided to leave our family. She has been trying to work two jobs to support me and my two older brothers as well as herself. I plan to apply for as many scholarships as possible, and it would be greatly helpful if I could receive an athletic or academic scholarship.
My goal of playing as a freshman starter in Varsity has been reached. We also became BIIF champions on our island, Hawai'i three years in a row. This allowed us to compete in the state tournament. I am proud of this achievement and I will continue to work hard. I have set a personal goal to continue as a starter on Varsity for my next 3 years of high school.
In the summer of 2013 I had the opportunity to attend the USA Volleyball A2 high performance camp as a liberro and I was also registered as an alternate for the A1 team. Among my last couple days at camp there was a tournament. Out of 13 teams I was placed on the third highest team, and we finished second.
Recently at a pre season tournament I was also elected the Most Valuable Player out of 12 teams.
