My name is Jaylen Lum and currently attending Mililani High School. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 and a half years of age. I am passionate and extremely competitive in all aspects of the game. Although I have scored and has been a leading scorer on many occasions, my love and drive is to allow myself to give that assist to any player on my team. I have played with all skill levels over the years. Creating plays and that perfect pass is what drives me. I will do whatever it takes to win a game. I am able play every position on the field, including goalie proficiently. I have created assists and scored from various positions on the field. I have played club soccer since I was six years old and have played up in age since then. Currently, my primary position is Forward and Offensive Midfielder. Being able to compete at this level is a plus to me personally. Having been the youngest player on a team has given me the strength to be strong minded and compassionate at the same time. I do compete in Track and Field and it compliments my speed and endurance on the field. I am able to direct players to where they should be and place the ball at a location that amazes some. My vision of the game entitles me to engage the team as a whole and lead them to victory.
As a new chapter of my life begins, I am a dedicated student athlete and look forward to being the best that I can be in everything I do. I work hard in the classroom and on the field. I am a strong team player and always trying to encourage my teammates to bring out the best in them. Direction and understanding plays a key role and being able to maintain strength such as that will contribute to my success.
I am a volunteer Youth Mentor with the Patton Sport’s Performance. I assist as a Junior Coach for the youth program in Speed and Agility. Each and every child plays a huge role in my life. Being able to help them achieve their goals brings life into mine. Watching them grow and being a part of that is heart warming. I volunteered as a “Buddy” to the Mililani AYSO Region 119 VIP Program that assists children with Special Needs. We warm them up, show them how to stretch out properly and show them the basic skills of playing soccer. My Buddy was a young girl with Autism. We bonded instantly and her parents were truly amazed as to how their beautiful child would look forward to each week to attend practice and play soccer with me. They saw such joy that it brought to her face and the impact I had on her. My heart filled with excitement and joy that I would be able to bring such love to a child and to help her learn to love the sport as much as I do.
Being able to play collegiate soccer and track would be a huge bonus in achieving my success
