For as long as I can remember I’ve loved sports. I tried many sports, from swimming to taekwondo and just about every genre of dance. But, I never really felt truly passionate about a sport until I started playing volleyball in 6th grade. I was terrible, in fact I would literally shake on the court because I was so nervous the ball would come to me. Nevertheless, I loved the sport and wanted to get better at it. Volleyball helped me realize that I can achieve anything in life, if I put in the hard work and dedication. As, after my first school and club season, I begged my mother to send me to any and every camp, clinic or private lessons she could. By the next season I was a whole new player and stopped shaking on the court. I’ve continued to push myself in every way I can, balancing an I.B. education, multiple sports, chorus and clubs.
Because of volleyball, I have gained so much confidence and met some of the most amazing people. It feels like it came into my life when I needed it most, after loosing someone very close to me and the stress of more responsibility and challenges in school and at home appearing. It’s been a break from everything , as when I’m in the gym all I have to worry about is being the best player I can be for my teammates and myself. I believe I not only have the talent to compete at a college level, but the drive, and discipline to make a positive impact on your program.
