My name is Taylor Bates and I am writing this personal statement because of my interest in pursuing opportunities to play women’s collegiate volleyball. Even though I am currently only in 8th grade, I am very interested in getting ahead in the college recruitment and decision process. This year, I was the starting middle hitter for the high school (Calvary Christian Academy) volleyball team in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. My goal is to play Division I volleyball and having the opportunity to continue my education while playing for a motivating coach and strong team. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
I also am a starting outside hitter/middle blocker for Boomers Volleyball Club (14U) team. Over the past 3 years, our club team has been ranked in the top 3 in the state of Florida, finished 3rd at the 2016 GJNC and 7th at the 2017 AAU Nationals. Even though there is not much of an off-season between high school and club volleyball, I also play beach volleyball to stay in top shape.
In my academics, I have been on the principal’s honor roll each year the award existed (5 years) and based on standardized test scores was accepted in the Duke TIPS program and was invited to take the ACT this past summer.
I would love to meet you and talk about the possibility of being part of your team in 2022. Our team will be competing in many national qualifiers again this year and if you are interested I can share with you my schedule.
Respectfully,
Taylor Bates
