Personal Statement

Passionate about volleyball, education and community service, I want to be an impact player both on and off the court.  Super fast, with great court awareness, I can accurately place the ball to score points, can pass and play 6 rotations.  I believe that my greatest strengths are passion and determination because they breed hard work and hard work breeds consistency and success.  A team player with a positive attitude, I am not afraid of hard work and have been the captain of both my club and high school team for 2 years as well as winning all conference honors 4 years in a row.  I play beach and won the 2013 Nor Cal Grand Slam Championship in Santa Cruz, won the 2013 Pacific Northwest Qualifier Championship and attended the Jr. Indoor Nationals in Dallas. An added plus is my 4.3 GPA.

Fueled by my desire to become the first one in my family to graduate from college, I have capitalized on all the opportunities available to me and used them as stepping stones to achieving my goal. Transferring the lessons I have learned playing volleyball into my day to day life has contributed to my overall success in high school.  Volleyball has taught me that to accomplish something extraordinary you need a team.  When everyone works together and supports each other great things can happen.  I know that to be "One in a Million" you first have to realize that it is the million that makes the "one".  I have learned to push through or rise above whatever obstacles I face, because quitting is not an option. I use strengths to compensate for my weakness and know that there is no substitute for hard work, determination and perseverance.  As a result, I have received a number of leadership and athletic awards in high school and want to continue to do the same in college.

While I have yet to discover where I will leave my mark; fighting injustice, creating opportunities for the disillusioned and impoverished, or saving lives by working in the field of medicine, I know that education is the key to unlocking my future.  Powered by passion, my goal in college is to push myself to the limit both athletically and academically, to question, to debate and integrate all that I am learning into a powerful, intellectual, service driven platform upon which I can effect real change, perhaps one day becoming that "One in a Million".

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
