One of the most surprising and gratifying experiences in my life has been becoming involved in a team sport like volleyball. My first time stepping on the court was my freshman year and I knew this was the sport for me. Playing at the collegiate level would be the opportunity of a lifetime.
Prior to volleyball, I was a committed dancer for 11 years. The experience of discipline and hard work helped me to make my freshman/sophomore team. Dance has given me the ability to be an eager learner, have quick footwork, and best of all, the ability to create a bond with others around me. When on the court, I like to bring an enthusiastic and a driving desire to play. For the past 3 years now I have been on a “Youth Leadership Team,” with my church which has taught me useful leadership skills which both help to lead and to listen and respect others opinions and views. If not on the court helping to lead my team, I’m on the bench cheering on my teammates as loud as I can. Being teased for being too loud on the court is not uncommon for me.
When not dressed out and ready to play, I’m hard at work keeping up my grades and GPA and you’ll never see me procrastinating. A good education is just as valuable to me as playing volleyball. With all these skills and useful personal traits, I hope that I can find a college that’s as good a fit for me, as I am for them. My passion for volleyball has never been stronger than it is now, and it would be an honor for me to put on a jersey for any college.
