I am a hard worker who can manage a tougher workload than most and still excel. Throughout high school, I have played two high-level sports simultaneously (both club and school volleyball as well as travel and high school softball) while taking a very challenging course load and maintaining a 3.97 unweighted / 4.53 weighted GPA. I am on track to maintain and hopefully improve that GPA with my senior class schedule: AP Physics, AP Calc BC, AP Compute Science, AP Macro Economics, and Society & Politics in Literature.
For my current club team - City Beach 18 Green - I am playing all around as OPP and OH. For my high school volleyball team, Mountain View High, I was the starting Libero. We went a 31-6 overall, 9 - 3 in our very tough league, and then made it to the semi-finals of CSS before losing to Nationally Ranked (#2!) Archibishop Mitty. I led the team in service aces, digs and serve receives. We had a strong team with great chemistry and it was a super senior year season.
I think my biggest strengths are my speed, work ethic, team spirit and game IQ. My coach awarded me the "Spartan Award' on our varsity team, for embodying the qualities that he values the most in a player. I am also pretty hard to fluster and have a tough and consistent serve, having been a pitcher for many years for my softball teams.
Although I have enjoyed playing softball for so many years, I know it is volleyball that I would like to focus on in college. Originally a middle blocker on my first club team back in 7th grade, I transitioned to outside hitter a few years back. At the start of my junior year high school season, because I am 5'8" and speedy, I made the switch to defensive specialist and have been working super hard to excel in this new role, playing lots of beach volleyball this past summer and going to a number of high level camps. That hard work was rewarded with earning the Libero spot this year for my very strong high school team and I played 99% of the matches in that role.
I just committed to play volleyball for Wesleyan University and will study Molecular Biology. The combination of competitive sport and tough academics is a challenge that keeps me focused and happy.
Thank you very much for reviewing my profile and video. I welcome any comments or suggestions on how I can continue to improve my game.
