Ashley Velasquez '17 Recruiting Profile

I've only been playing volleyball for about 3 years now and I am very proud of how I've grown as a player, mentally and on the court. I've fallen in love with the game and there's nothing more that I want than to continue my volleyball career in college. Many times I have been told that that will be impossible because of my height; however, I intend to prove those people wrong. Despite my height, I have been able to manage a starting position (as a hitter) on almost every team I've been on and each team has been successful. I am a very hard worker on the court and in the classroom and I'm very open to criticism because it only makes me a better player. One of my favorite parts of being a volleyball player is building long lasting friendships with the girls on my teams. I believe that if a team has a strong relationship with each other, they will be so much more successful. I completely understand the rigor of being a college student-athlete, but I like a challenge.
