My long term goals include attending a 4 year college where I can play volleyball and attain my special education teacher credential. I have volunteered in a special education autism pre-school class to begin to build my background and experience. I have currently joined 3 clubs at school; Best Buddies, The Children's Club, and Good People Club. Best Buddies pairs a special education high school student with each club member. The program is structured so that we have lunch with our buddy, go to the park, introduce them to our circle of friends and more. The Children's Club helps kids in the community by giving volunteer hours to support various children's groups, and The Good People Club is meant to do kind things for kids on campus in an effort to make their day. I also participate in our schools show choir. This is my 3rd year in choir. We compete in State and National competitions. I believe show choir is building my confidence and my stage presence. This will eventually help when I have interviews for college and a career.
In addition to my High School and Club volleyball experience, I have recently begun beach volleyball as well. I felt the beach work out would begin to work on muscles that are not used for indoor volleyball. When I am not studying, volunteering or practicing I spend time at the local gym working out. I realize that volleyball is a high impact sport, so I need to ensure I have developed my muscles and skill to avoid an injuries.
At the end of my college experience I hope to be able to coach younger students that are interested in learning volleyball at night and teach special education students during the day. I am a very hard working, dedicated person. I love kids and I love volleyball. I work hard at school and I spend approximately 15 hours a week practicing volleyball. I believe all of my training and hard work will ensure I am a confident, successful career professional that will continue to work in my 2 areas of passion; kids and volleyball.
