Hello, my name is Kiersten Kimminau. When I was younger, I tried many different sports, but I never really took to any of these. I wouldn't say I was terrible at any of them; in fact, I was good at most of the sports that I tried (Except for synchronized swimming. That ended real quickly.) I just didn't develop a real passion for anything. Finally, in 6th grade, I decided to try out for cross-country and by the end of the season, I was hooked! I had never experienced so much pain during a sport, but it was great. In the spring of that same year, I signed up for track. That was also very painful, but fantastic. I was drawn to running because of the satisfaction that I felt after every race. It was such an amazing feeling to push myself through the finish line and feel accomplished and proud of myself. Something about running just clicked for me and I haven't stopped running since.
I always do my best to go above and beyond in every aspect of my life. I am 100% committed to both the sport of running and my academic studies. My education is very important to me so I make sure to keep my grades up and study hard. I also like to be involved in extracurricular activities. I am a member of Key Club and every Sunday I volunteer as a phone worker at the Crisis Clinic. I try to be involved in my community as much possible. I have volunteered many times at local parks and worked to clean and support the environment. I do my best to maintain a good balance between grades and athletics because both are extremely important and will play a big part in my future. In college, I would like to major in Business and minor in Marketing and Graphic Design. My goal in life is to be successful in whatever I do, and I know in my heart that I have the desire and motivation to achieve this success. I know that in order to be successful I must endure the failures in life, but I am driven enough to overcome the setbacks and push forward.
My goal is to attend and compete for a college with a successful running program. I believe that I am capable of competing at this level and would be an asset to any team because of my drive and hard work ethic. If I set my mind to something, then I will do it. I am a dedicated athlete and I know how to go the extra mile and put in the diligent work in order to achieve my goals. I am very coachable because of my determination and desire to succeed. If you tell me to run another mile, then I will. If you tell me to hit a certain time, then I will. If I don't, then you can be sure that I am going to exhaust every effort in trying to accomplish the task. Currently, during the off season, I have been running six days a week, weight training Monday-Friday, and working with a personal coach twice a week. When the season starts, I will be prepared to run hard and shatter my personal records.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you!
