My name is Tricia Panos and I am currently senior at Fox Chapel Area High School in Pittsburgh, PA where I am a two sport athlete participating in both track and basketball at the varsity level. I have a GPA of 3.0+ and I enjoy being a student. My short term goal is to become a student athlete at the collegiate level in the sport of track and eventually graduate and pursue a career in dietetics, nutrition or with a degree in marketing.
In school, I am an exceptionally hard worker. I enjoy learning, going to school and being part of the overall school community. At times, if I struggle with a particular subject, I will seek help from my teachers. I complete all assignments both at school and all homework when it is assigned. I come from a household where earning your grades and taking responsibility for your work is essential.
Currently, I am member of the varsity track and field team where I am the top sprinter on the team. I also participate in both the high and long jumps to which I am one of the better jumpers on the team. As a sophomore, I broke the school record in the 100 meter dash which was set in 1978. At that time, the girl who held the record ran a 12.8. I now hold the school record of 12.6 in this event and strive all the time to better that mark. As a freshman, I earned a varsity track letter and I placed in most meets and invitationals. Additionally, I qualified and competed in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) track championships. I competed in four events but only qualified for the finals as a member of the 1600 meter relay team my freshman year and in my junior year I competed in the 100m dash. Along with competing with my high school team, I also compete at the USAtf level with Future Stars Athletics. Two years in a row I have gotten the chance to compete at Nationals (Junior Olympics), the first year was just for long jump, but my second year I went for long jump, high jump and the 1600m relay.
I am also a member of the JV and Varsity basketball team at my school. Basically, I am a utility player and at times I have played all five positions during the course of a game. Although, I do not consider basketball to be my main sport, I dedicate a lot of time to it and I greatly enjoy being a member of the team. I use basketball season as a way to stay in shape during the winter to be prepared for track.
Ever since I was little, I have wanted to pursue my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. I am very open to any school that might be interested in me as a student athlete. I am not adverse to going away from home, but would like to be within a few driving hours from Pittsburgh. Furthermore, I am seeking a true "college experience" where people do not go home every weekend and that I am challenged both academically and athletically. My ultimate goal is to earn a scholarship at an NCAA institution but I am open to competing at the D-III as well.
