Nicole Paschl '11 Recruiting Profile

I only started pole vaulting in my Junior year. I was a softball player, diver and gymnast since first grade, but after watching the pole vaulters in my sophomore year, decided that pole vaulting was exactly what I wanted to do. My coach, Mr. Degnan had reservations about even allowing me on the pole vault team as a Junior, but I told him about my gymnastics and athletic background and talked him into letting me try. Since then, I have not looked back! I made it to WPIAL's my first year, won a Coach's Award, and although my PB in competition by the end of the school year was only 9'3",I attended 3 pole vaulting camps this summer I recently increased my personal best to 10' 6" at the Westminster College Summer Pole Vault sessions! I will be attending more training sessions at WVU and Westminster College. I love pole vaulting. I am a very dedicated and determined athlete and I willing to work hard to improve my skills. My coaches tell me that I am improving every week and I set a personal goal to get progressively better with each and every attempt. This year, I got first place in 4 out of 5 meets, broke our school's PV record, and recently took first place at the Jaguar Invitational with a height of 10' 3". My new PB at practice this year is 11'.
