I began pole-vaulting my freshman year in high school, and I knew I loved it from the start. What was special about pole-vaulting for me was that it was a great combination of something I had potential in, and also a passion for right from the get-go. Throughout middle school, I dabbled in activities that I either loved, but was not excellent at (such as gymnastics), or the various activities that I had a knack for, but my heart was never really in. When I began pole-vaulting, I knew I had found something truly special that I had a passion for. My PR at the end of freshman year was 7'6", and I went to Mid Penn Conferences that year. Sophomore year, I broke my school record (8'6") with a jump of 8'10", and finished strong at Districts with a jump of 9", which won me 6th place. But I was not yet satisfied; this was when I decided to get really serious and begin jumping year-round. I found a truly amazing club by the name of VaultWorx, and began vaulting twice a week there all summer. I loved it, and signed on to jump all year with VaultWorx. Coach Concannon and the other coaches at VaultWorx helped me achieve a jump of 10'6" during the 2012 indoor season, which qualified me to jump at indoor State Championships, where I jumped 10'. I achieve my goals through hard work, dedication, and love for the sport; and of course I couldn't have gotten where I am without the help of my VaultWorx and Camp Hill High School coaches. I am very academically and athletically motivated. I have lived in Camp Hill and attended school there for all my life, and I love my small town, team mates, and coaches and teachers. I plan on continuing to improve in pole-vaulting, and I would absolutely love to jump in college. My goal right now is to continue getting quality grades in my AP, honors, and general courses this year and my senior year. After high school, I plan on attending a four-year college (preferably Division I or II) and pole-vault in college. I would like to major in either Criminal Psychology or Forensic Pathology. Either way, I dream of attending graduate school after college to specialize in one of those areas.
