TEN THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME
-I have a twin sister, Fiona, who also runs competitively and who is my built-in training partner.
-When I’m not training, doing homework or working, I sing and play guitar.
-In the winter, I cross-country ski race. I was an All American in 2017 at Junior Nationals.
-My parents starting taking my sister and me for runs when we traveled; bringing us was more fun than trading off.
-The highlight of my freshman track season was racing at Hayward Field for invitationals that seemed too professional for my gangly, naive, freshman self.
-I was born 10 weeks premature and weighed 3lbs.
-I played competitive, year-round soccer until the end of my freshman year, but my coaches and team persuaded me to join the cross country team.
-I’ve learned more about teamwork in one high school season of track and cross country, than I did playing on my soccer team for 10 years.
-I think the hardest thing about running is letting go of thoughts and excuses that slow me down, letting that take over, rather than coming out of that mindset to break my own limitations.
-I love to find a challenge in school. This mindset has driven me towards unbroken, straight “A” report cards, National Honors Society, AP classes, Interact Club and Speech and Debate.
My goal is to continue developing as an athlete and have the opportunity to run in college. I will push myself and reach my athletic potential for my own crazy need for competition, pain and improvement, and the satisfaction of being able to thank everyone who has opened a door for me.
